Getting your Christmas craft on

Anyone who knows me, knows I love to create stuff. I love pretty much anything crafty.

Today I thought I’d share with you some of the Christmas craft classes floating around the net at the moment.

Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas

I did my first Journal Your Christmas (or JYC) last year & I loved it. Every year, JYC includes daily prompts from the 1st of December to the 6th of January, the twelfth day of Christmas. AND as with every class at Shimelle’s, once you take a class you have access forever & can take part in future versions of the class. Starts 1st December

Kim Archer’s Handmade Christmas

This one is new to me this year. It’s six days of ‘fabulous Christmas-y step by step projects’. Keep an eye out for me sharing what I make after the class. Starts 25th November

Big Picture Classes – 12 Days of Christmas

Not one I’ve done but sounds interesting – 12 days of projects with different Big Picture Classes teachers. Starts 13th December

and then there’s the many sites out there listing homemade gifts. Here’s a few of my favourites.

101 Days of Christmas
Crafty Christmas (hmm this site is a bit of a distraction lol – lots of cute links to printables)
2011 DIY Gift Guide

and then there is sooooo much on Pinterest!

Learn Something New 2011 (Days 1 to 4)

This year I’ve decided to just jot down some Twitter like observations. I’m hoping this will mean it will make it easier for me to keep up with it. AND it means I will start using my Observations notebook I made way back in the Mouse, Paper, Scissors class (hope there will be another soon). Mental note to self – find Observation notebook & a nice pen and put in my bedside draw. Will try and update my blog with my week’s observations each Sunday night.

Day 1 – Today I learnt that Miss K loves chocolate as much as I do.

Day 2 – Sometimes I need to relax and not sweat the small stuff

Day 3 – Wear comfy shoes when doing housework! You will thank yourself later

Day 4 – I love spending time with family. Don’t get to do it enough.

I’ll be back next Sunday with some more observations about what I’ve learnt through the week.

What have you learnt so far this week?

Learn Something New

Well it’s nearly September (OMG where has the year gone!!) and it’s nearly time for Shimelle’s Learn Something New class.

I’m ashamed to say I have NEVER completed one of Shimelle’s classes (I’ve taken a few). I am a huge fan but never seem to keep motivated to keep scrapping. This year I plan to blog each day and then I have a record to scrap later, should I choose.

I do plan on slowly working my way through all the classes I’ve started. That’s the joy of Shimelle’s classes, once you buy them, if they are repeated, you have have access to future version.

Have you ever signed up a class and never finished it? Are you taking part in Shimelle’s class (would love you to say hi)?

Happy (belated) {inter}national Scrapbook Day

{inter}national Scrapbook Day (or insd) was on the weekend and I did zero scrapping and didn’t buy a thing! I did however download a few freebies & discover a few new designers.

I started the weekend off with the Design House Digital designer blog hop

How gorgeous is that? Next was Miss Tiina’s cute kit Hodgepodge

then MScraps blog hop  – Flower Garden

and some cute freebies from Weeds & Wildflowers and then I found the DigiScrapAddicts Vacation blog train today.

And then in my surfing I found a new art journal challenge (more on that shortly) and thru that I found Fiddlette Designs

So what did you get up to for INSD? Did you spend heaps or not much? What great freebies did you find? Back soon with some new shares Smile

Mouse, Paper, Scissors

OMG How much do I love this class! Jessica Sprague & Heidi Swapp! Amazing!!

Now that the class is over I thought I’d share with you the creations I have finished.

We started off creating an Observations notebook.

Then we made some hybrid cards and envelopes

Next we made an awesome hybrid mini album (no photo as it’s a gift for someone who reads my blog)

And a hybrid birthday/celebration layout

Another mini album this time about things that make us happy (no pic yet as I haven’t finished it)

And another hybrid layout

Then finally our observations mirror (again no picture cause I haven’t finished it yet)

As soon as I’ve got the mini album & mirror done I’ll post them online so you can all check them out Smile

If this class is offered again I would highly recommend it. But in the mean time pop on over to Jessica Sprague dot com and sign up for Mouse, Paper, Scissors: Mom. It starts on the 18th April.

Also starting on 18th April is Shimelle’s new blogging/scrapbooking class – Beyond Blogging for Scrapbookers. Looking forward to that one too.

Some random shares

I’ve signed up over at Aussie Mummy Bloggers. I’m joining a group there who are taking the 31 days to a build a better blog challenge.
