I asked hubby to do a post today cause what I\u2019m sharing is about his family. He declined, cause he\u2019s like that \ud83d\ude09 His Grandfather served in WWII in the Pacific after narrowly missing out on serving in Africa (which was considered lucky as the company he would have been with ended up as POWs)<\/p>\n

(that\u2019s Frank on the left – the short one\u2026 hubby\u2019s family are mainly a short lot)<\/p>\n

The following poem is written about hubby\u2019s Grandad Frank by one of the men who served with him. We have no idea who wrote it (it would be awesome if we could find this out one day\u2026 any suggestions of how we could possibly go about this?)<\/p>\n

Frankie<\/em><\/h3>\n

Now Frankie is a quiet chap,
<\/em>Not the kind that chatter.
<\/em>He dos\u2019nt care for Ingleburn,
<\/em>But what the hell\u2019s that matter.
<\/em>There\u2019s one thing about Frankie,
<\/em>At which I\u2019ve often laughed,
<\/em>He\u2019s half his mind on Home Leave,
<\/em>The other half on Draft.
<\/em>He loves his wife,
<\/em>As I do mine,
<\/em>And I bet she thinks he\u2019s swell,
<\/em>It\u2019s cruel that he\u2019s away from home
<\/em>But perhaps it\u2019s just as well.
<\/em>And when the war is ended
<\/em>As end all wars must
<\/em>All we will see of Frankie
<\/em>Will be a cloud of dust.
<\/em>He will have to go to beat me,
<\/em>To catch a Southern Train,
<\/em>But if he does we\u2019ll meet I hope,
<\/em>In Launceston again.<\/em><\/p>\n
