  • 🌙 A New Chapter Begins: Closing My Craft Blog & Returning Home to Nightwolf’s Den

Today, I’m writing a post that feels both nostalgic and quietly exciting – a gentle closing of one creative space and a heartfelt return to another.

After years of sharing on this craft blog, it’s time for me to officially wind this space down. Not because my love for crafting has faded, but because it no longer needs to live separately.

This isn’t an ending. It’s simply a homecoming.

🖤 Why I’m Closing This Blog

Many years ago, I created this craft blog as a dedicated space for my making. At the time, it made sense – Nightwolf’s Den was overflowing with everything: life updates, creative writing, personal challenges, craft projects, fandom, photography, and every strange little idea my brain came up with.

Splitting my craft content into a separate blog seemed like the right move.

But over time, two things happened:

    1. I realised I hardly posted here anymore.
Managing two blogs slowly became a barrier instead of a help.
    2. I no longer feel like my creative life belongs in separate boxes.
Crafting is part of my story – not something that needs its own room.

So it’s time for this space to rest.

🐺 Returning Home to Nightwolf’s Den

Nightwolf’s Den has been my personal blog since 2007 – a place where every version of me has lived at some point. It’s where I shared:

    • life updates
    • craft adventures
    • creative thoughts
    • personal essays
    • photos, stories, and messy beginnings

It was, and still is, my online home.

So instead of dividing myself between two spaces, I’m bringing everything back where it began. Going forward, Nightwolf’s Den will be the heart of all my writing, crafting, reflecting, and creative living.

If you’ve enjoyed my work here, I’d love for you to join me over there:

🌿 A New Creative Project: The Tasmanian Maker’s Journal

Closing this blog also gives me the space to grow something new with my eldest – a project that feels very close to our hearts.

    Introducing The Tasmanian Maker’s Journal

Stories of Art, Craft, Community & Creative Living

This will be a celebration of Tasmania’s makers, artists, craftspeople, and quiet creatives. A mix of storytelling, local history, studio visits, tutorials, and a deep appreciation for handmade life.

    Inside the journal you’ll find:

    • maker features & interviews
    • behind-the-scenes creative stories
    • local history connected with art and craft
    • creative prompts & inspiration
    • a celebration of slow, meaningful creativity

It’s part community archive, part creative companion – and something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time. It officially opens on January 1st but you can pop on over and join the mailing list now.

💛 Thank You for Being Here

Whether you’ve been following my craft adventures for years or just found this blog recently – thank you. Truly.

This blog may be closing (I’ll be deleting everything at the end of February 2026), but the creativity continues – just in a place that feels more grounded, more spacious, and more me.

I hope you’ll stay with me on this next chapter:

    • Nightwolf’s Den – my personal blog since 2007
    • The Tasmanian Maker’s Journal – my new creative project

🌙 Here’s to What Comes Next

Thank you for sharing this journey with me.
I can’t wait to show you what’s ahead.

  • Book of Me 2025

This year for our Book of Me at the Awesome Ladies Project, we’re creating pages each month inspired by a female artist. During the lessons we’re learning about their creative themes and translating them into our own storytelling styles thanks to video tutorials, creative prompts, and project inspiration.

For my Book, I’m doing digital in Canva that I’ll print out when finished and add to my previous 6×8 Book of Me album. I’ve decided to go with the co titles of “A Year of amazing female artist inspiration” and “A year of self portraits”. Each month my page will include a photo of the featured artist, a quote by the artist, some of their art as well as using some of the creative prompts for the month. Then I’m adding a selfie.

I’m thinking of making it more interactive by making my selfie a tip-in so I can add some info about me unerneath. Not 100% sure as yet.

I’ve used some of the Planners Anonymous Creative Kits for elements on my pages as well as elements from Canva. Images of the artists and their work was sourced from a Google search

  • Ink and Page April 2025 project

April was the first month were I finally decided to create along with the Ink & Page monthly freebie project. I’ve been collecting them for awhile and this is the first one I’ve made.

April’s project was The Star Catcher’s Journal. You can catch each of the parts of the video and freebies on their YouTube channel. I’ve linked each video part at the end. Here’s my journal minus the journal that sits under the waterfall as I’m not sure what I want to add to it as yet. I’ll be sure to update when I do create them. I’ll be printing another out though as the eldest wants to make her own.

    Videos – Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 (1 & 2)

I’m looking forward to seeing what the May project is.

  • Join me on SubStack

I’m having a play with Substack to see what I think & I’d love for you to join me. It will be pretty much the same as what is posted here but in your inbox (as well as online).

  • What I’ve been up to

I’ve just updated the Photo-A-Day gallery with my March and April photos.

I’ve been watching videos by Hither & Yon and Ink & Page, following along with their April projects. Hither & Yon is a grungy acordian album. Ink and Page‘s project is The Star Catcher’s Journal. Photos coming as soon as I’ve finished them.

    Been prepping for Messy May

Been playing with digital journals in Noteful on my iPad

    What’s in store for May?

    • Messy May
    • Creative Warrior Bootcamp
    • Cricut Crafting Adventures
    • Mastering Mixed Media
    • Art of Expression summit
    • local crafternon doing eco-printing

Over at the Awesome Ladies we continuing to work on our Book of Me albums using a monthly artist inspiration – May’s artist is Georgia O’Keeffe. There’s also a continuation of the work we began last month with our Creative Seeds, looking at our Creative Roots.
And book in June 1–7 for the laid-back Organization Week. We’ll tackle one bite-size step each day: peek at the chaos, sketch a game plan, ditch what’s not serving us, and put the good stuff back where it actually makes sense.

What have you been up to creatively?

  • What’s going on over at the Awesome Ladies

So many exciting things happening this year over at the ALP (Awesome Ladies Project)

Book of me is back again this year and sounds like it is going to be an artistic journey

This year’s Book of Me project is all about drawing inspiration from powerful female artists—women who have used their creativity to tell their own stories, push boundaries, and leave a lasting impact.

We’ll explore a new artist each month, learning from their techniques, styles, and creative philosophies, and then use that inspiration to tell our own stories. No art skills required—just a willingness to experiment, play, and tell your story.

You can sign up over here. OR join the Feminist Scrapbook School and get the Book of Me project as part of your membership.

  • Mind the dust

I’m having issues with a couple of my plug-ins behind the scenes so things might look a bit wonky for a bit.

    Thanks for understanding.

  • Creative plans for 2025

Well it’s a new year and time to put my intentions for the year out there into the world.

    Crafting Goals

    • more junk journaling
    • Doing Junk Journal January, Junk Journal July and Messy May. I’m not worried if I don’t do every prompt. Sometimes the prompts just don’t call to you.
    • More Awesome Ladies projects.
    • 100 Happy Days 2025
    • Fat Mum Slim’s Photo-A-Day
    • Memory planning. I’m a patreon of My Abiding Journal and she does a monthly journaling club. I followed along last year but never created anything. This year I’m giving it a go. You can check out the post about the Journaling Club here. I may continue doing Stop the Blur but I didn’t do any last year beyond digital journaling and collecting photos.
    • Recognising hockey season is my least creative time of the year. Especially now that we’re doing 3 days a week of games plus training.

    Blogging goals

    • Posting more often. yeah I say that every year. Hopefully this year will be different.
    • Awesome Ladies updates – what’s happening over at the Awesome Ladies
    • What I’ve been making – this will be about specific projects or creations.
    • Updating the blog galleries.
