Organising my Scrap Space Challenge three
Challenge three had two parts – the actual challenge & a bonus challenge
I’ll start with the bonus challenge first.
The challenge was to start a design file – things, colours that inspire, scrap related items I’d love. Then create a plan and a room plan.
My room plan is pretty easy – it’s a trestle table, my draws on wheels & a paper rack. I’m still working on my plan of HOW I’ll store everything but I have an idea of WHERE it will go (either on the trestle in easy reach, on my Clip It Up, in my drawers, in the paper rack or on my computer desk)
Onto the actual challenge three – am I gonna start small or go for broke?
I’m going for broke as all my scrap stuff is already packed in boxes so I can start over 🙂 My boxes will not be allowed back into my scrap space until it decides to behave nicely meaning it has to be in its working container, all neat and organized. Mind you allot of my boxes have a variety of things in them so some boxes may get semi sorted 😉
Onto challenge four – Paper
Organisation
I was going thru & tidying up my blogs in my blog reader (I have over 2000 posts saved!) and I came across a post linking to this organising challenge. Since hubby & I have now decided that we’ll share a table in the office (he’ll use it for build RPG miniatures & I’ll use it for scrapping) I need to take stock of what I have & organise it a bit better.
So over the next few weeks I’ll work through each of the 29 challenges and post how I’m going here. Anyone want to work thru the challenges with me?
The first challenge was to do an audit of our current scrapping space, listing what works and what doesn’t work. Hmm well I’m starting afresh so I’m really not sure how I should approach this one.
I know I like to have things where I can see them (out of mind, out of site – if I can’t see it I usually forget I have it lol) and when I’m scrapping I like to have tools and supplies within easy reach. I need to have my paper sorted. I need to have better storage options for EVERYTHING!
Not having much room (basically a tote, a clip it up and the top of my computer desk at the moment) means I’ll need to be super organised and have containers for everything. Hopefully these challenges will help me obtain my goal of having an organised space.
The second challenge was to think of our dream scrap room.
My list of what I’d like:
- storage for my CS & papers. I’m thinking something I can sit on top of my computer desk. Something where I can organise my papers, I’m thinking I’ll go back to sorting them by theme, and take out just what I need for each project (so when I’m working on, say, baby pages I just grab my baby papers). Same with CS, sorted by colour.
- Something I can keep on my workspace (that won’t take up a heap of room) so I can keep stuff I use heaps within reach. Things I use often are pens, craft knife…
- Someway of having my Slice & related bit close by
- Having my Clip It Up better organised
- Organise all my embellishments and have them stored in appropriate containers.
- A better way of organising my pages in progress
Best laid plans
Well I was gonna scrap today but it never happened. I ended up doing housework this morning after sleeping in til 10am. then went out to the scrap room and decided to end up doing some cleaning up. found a nifty feature on my phone camera – a panorama setting!
so here’s a couple of pics I took while out there.
yup it’s a mess…… but it is slowly getting there. just need to finish painting the walls, get some curtains & put up some shelving.
Some new layouts

We Dare Ya Layout 8 – Healing
and a sketch box done last nite as part of a class taken by Kayla. I totally LOVE how this turned out. Might have to make a couple more for gifties. & I’ve decided I’m in lurve with BG Two Scoops. & I have an obsession with Kindyglitz lol.
That’s all for tonight. I’m off to listen to the rest of the football. Go the Hawks!!
The amazing scraproom adventure P2
Well parts of the room are painted & 99% of my stash is put away & semi organised. I’m loving having my own creative space.
Still have to paint the remaining walls, get some curtains, put up shelving & add ‘me’ touches.
Here’s a couple of pics I took this morning. It looks more organised now.
The fence is almost done too. The boys will finish it off tomorrow 🙂
