Habit Hacking

As you know, if you’ve been a long time follower of my blog, I’ve been trying to follow Flylady numerous times and I always seem to fail. I do ok for a week or two then just get disheartened and give up. I was doing some blog surfing recently and found a link to HabitHacker and thought I’d check it out. Sounds ok. Sounds like something I could do.

The first step in habit hacking your ‘nest’ is to “Polish your place” (or choose a spot & clean it). It can be any place – your sink (ala FlyLady) or your bedside table or anything. Just somewhere you will keep clean everyday.

I chose my main bench in the kitchen. It’s a dumping ground. We make cuppa’s here. I prepare food here. I, for some reason known only to a small part of my brain, sort mail here. Lately it’s been shocking. Cue the Before photo

IMG_1154Well one week in and I am still managing to keep this bench tidy. I’m finding it so easy to give it a quick wipe over and to put things away when I’ve finished with them and to give it a spray and wipe after breakfast and before I go to bed.

See?

Blogging and social networking

I have finally set up a fan page for Nightwolf’s Den. Feel free to come on over and ‘Like’ me (& point me out to your friends if you think they would like me to – hey I’m not against shameless self promotion LOL)

The reason? Well I’ve been taking part in a couple of Facebook chats on blogging. Last week we discussed PR & blogging.  Mummy Bloggers Blog posted a transcript of the chat. Tonight the chat was on blogging & social media (I’ll update when a transcript goes up)

And as a bonus I thought I’d share Diminishing Lucy’s post – 15 top Twitter tips for Bloggers

A new look

As part of Shimelle’s Beyond Blogging for Scrapbookers class we were asked to take a look at our current blog design. Then look at what surrounded each post. So I have spent a few days redesigning my little piece of the blogosphere and this is the result. I think it looks a bit more clean and streamlined and hopefully it’s easier for you to find what you are looking for.

I thought I’d give you a quick run down on what you’ll find in the new design.

Who loves doing washing?

Not me. Unless it’s watching hubby do it but that rarely happens. So anything to make my life a little easier is always a good thing.

Since Miss K arrived and more so since she started eating solids (and isn’t that fun) I’ve been doing at least one load a day and sometime that also includes a load of washing to soak – you know the usual stains that don’t just come out in the wash. So when I was given the opportunity to try Biozet Attack Ecosmart washing liquid I thought ‘Why not?’

I’m a huge believer in using laundry liquid since Miss K came along. I find it easier to use and it doesn’t leave a powdery residue even if I used the suggested dose. Also I wash with warm water. Yeah I know washing with cold water is better but until we can afford to redo all the plumbing in the bathroom & laundry – warm water it is.

Anywho back to the laundry liquid. One of my biggest gripes with laundry liquid is you always seem to use a fair bit. For example, the current brand I use suggests 1 1/2 to 2 caps per full load. I use one & it seems to wash fine. With Biozet Attack Ecosmart you only need one 19ml ‘shot’ per wash. And you know what? That tiny amount cleans a full load of washing. And my white towels actually seem to come out whiter. I also noted that it gets out stains that my other liquids haven’t. Pretty cool.

It is smaller than other liquids but gives about the same amount of washes. And the bottle is refillable. And it is about the same price as the current liquid I use.

So would I buy it again? Yup for sure.

Disclaimer – I was provided a full bottle of Biozet Attack Ecosmart and refill for the purpose of review. All opinions above are my own.
