A day in the life….

I nearly forgot to do this, especially after having a slight sleep in this morning, thanks to hubby, after a shocking night. Also I’m not very good at taking photos on the hour cause I tend to forget lol so I don’t think any photos are exactly on the hour.

edited: I forgot a photo last night so have come back to add it

First I’d like to share one of my fav blogger resources…

If you have a blog, taking part in a Biannual Blogathon is a great idea. I’ve learnt so much and been pretty inspired. The next one is coming up next month in June.

Fashion, Beauty and Grooming

So not a topic I usually blog about! But I’m giving it a go today.
Since I’m pregnant I thought I’d go check out what’s “in” for those who will be pregnant over the upcoming winter here in Australia.

Layers! Always a good thing especially with those lovely hot flushes us pregnant women often get no matter the season.

Grey – Many sites are suggesting that grey will be the new black this winter. I’ve already noticed that lots of maternity wear is either grey or black.

Jewel tones & pastels – yay for a splash of colour. Think emerald green, teal and crimson or for fans of pastels think lavender, dusty rose and ice blue.

Textures – chunky knits, thick coats (a must for winter in Tasmania) and sweater dresses. A great tip from maternity clothing site Queen Bee – add texture with maternity tights

What’s your go to maternity items over winter? I’m finding leggings, long tops, warm dresses and comfy cardis so far.

Walk to Work Week

Here’s a quick photo blog about my walk to work 😉 Ok so I’m being a bit cheeky as I work from home.

Out of bed, quick shower, breakfast (ignore the messy kitchen) then sit down with a cuppa & get stuck into it.

What’s your walk to work like?

World Fair Trade Day

wft-day-2014-logo-light_green-small

Today is World Fair Trade Day and the theme for 2014 is Fair Trade People.

This is the first time I’d heard about WFTD so I thought I’d take a look at http://www.wfto.com/ It’s worth a look if fair trade is something that concerns or interests you.

There is even an app that is a poster generator. You can create a poster of yourself with your own words on it. It is also for your friends and families, your classmates or team mates, it’s for everyone that supports Fair Trade!

Motivation

(I’m guest blogging over at snowingindoors.com as part of the International Blog Swap 2014. Em’s post will be up later today – Just a head’s up for later)

Pinterest is a bit of a smorgasbord of quotes and I thought I’d share a few of my favs today. I’m not into the whole exercise/weight loss motivation ones but more general ones.

A little history lesson

Did you know that George Town is one of the oldest towns in Tasmania? Second only to Hobart in the South? Settlement occurred in Sydney in 1788, Hobart and George Town in 1804 followed by Brisbane in 1824 then Perth in 1829 then Melbourne in 1835.

George_town_tasmania_map

According to Wikipedia

George Town, named for King George III is one of the older European settlements in Australia, first settled in 1804 by Colonel William Paterson two years before the nearby city of Launceston 50 kilometres to the South.

It’s a typical Macquarie town design with the first map of George Town showing a central square surrounded by a grid pattern of streets. The first settlement was made up of around 200 people in all, including soldiers, convicts, one free settler and a doctor.

Some of our historic old buildings still stand today including Tara Hall (1833), The Grove (1836), Steam Packet Inn (1839), British Hotel (1846), the replacement Watch House (1855), Ben Hyron’s Cottage (c1850s) and Pier Hotel. The Steam Packet Inn is now know as Whitestones and the ghost of John Batman is claimed to have been seen at the top of the stairs.

Then there’s the historic lighthouse out at Low Head and the Pilot Station museum.
