and on another note I’m thinking about starting a Facebook fan page for the blog. What do you think? Any advice from anyone who has a fan page for their blog?

Day 1

632

So today is the first day of Shimelle’s class Blogging for Scrapbookers (if you haven’t signed up yet and are interested – you still have plenty of time). I took this class when it originally ran in 2009 and I’m looking forward to taking it again this year.

Last time I managed to blog about each prompt. I want to create a page as well but I never got around to it. This year I’m going to create a mini album. So each day will be a little blogging followed by a digi page using that day’s prompt.

My intentions this time around

  • attempt to blog everyday (if I don’t, well it doesn’t matter)
  • create a mini album page for each day’s prompt
  • share my pages
  • interact in the class forum a bit more Smile

So here’s my cover for my mini album (not sure if it’ll be 8×8 or 6×6 yet – creating it at 8×8 so I have the choice)

Also, Hello if you are stopping by today, either on your first visit or if you have been here before.

It’s back again….

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile you will know of my love of all things Shimelle. She is amazing. And a WONDERFUL teacher.

I am so happy to share one of my favourite classes at Shimelle’s is being run as a live class again. Blogging for Scrapbookers. I took the class the first time around, learnt a lot, made some new friends and found a whole heap of new blogs to follow. I was inspired to blog lots.

This time around I’m hoping to do a bit more than blog. I’m hoping to scrap as well as blog. Maybe create a mini album. We’ll see how things go.

Hope to see you there Smile

Taking a break

from blogging.

Family stuff has come up (I have created a blog post about it – I may or may not share) & I will be taking a bit of a break from blogging for a couple of days. I’ll be checking my email but I imagine that will probably be all I do online.

Don’t worry I am fine, another family member, not so much. But at this stage I won’t share details. Just know I will be back – hopefully Sunday. If not, Monday Smile

Catching Up pt 2

So I’m slowly catching up on 31 Days to be a better blogger.

I now have an Editorial Calender (something I had already done on one of my two business blogs) and a heap of post organised for the next couple of months. Lots of exciting goodness awaits, can’t wait to share it all with you.

I’ve updated some of the pages of my blog. I have a new About page, my Scrapbook resume is more up-to-date and I’ve added a few more links to Pages I Love (go check them out, I’ll wait til you come back Smile ) Just a quick note on Pages I Love – it’s kinda like my blogroll but a mix of websites & blogs. I have too many to list in the sidebar & it could get kinda messy lol

I’m going to be adding a poll later today (maybe tomorrow – it all depends on Miss K). I want to here from YOU, my readers as to what you would like to see me blog about.

Catching up

Ok so I have fallen a tad behind with the 31 days to a better blogger. Things got a bit busy here *sigh* don’t they always lol

Day 4 of building a better blog was to look at a top blog in our niche. Since my niche is both mummy blogger & scrap blogger, I ended up looking at two bloggers.

The scrap blogger – Katie the Scrapbook Lady

The mummy blogger – MagnetoBoldToo!

Day 6 was some reading. I do have to share a couple of the links cause I think they are great reading for all bloggers.

I’ll be back a little later with some more catching up

Kids and TV

This blog post over at Three Little Princesses made me chuckle.

But it is true. The first time Miss K saw Dorothy she bawled until I changed the channel, same with In the Night Garden. We also said we’d never have anything Wiggles or Hi-5 in our house. Well we’re doing pretty good with Hi-5 but the Wiggles, not so much. Fortunately not on TV yet. And then there is Dora the Explorer, don’t get me started on that one. Miss K really hasn’t shown any interest.

She does, however enjoy Star Wars, Star Trek, AFL and will sit and watch The History Channel with her dad.

What do your kids enjoy? What do they hate?

Some of my favourite …

Since joining Aussie Mummy Bloggers I’ve found some great new blogs. I thought I’d use my post today to share with you a few of my favourites (in no particular order).

  • Lori @ Random Ramblings of a SAHM I found Lori’s blog when Miss K was about 6 months & I love her style of writing. She’s going thru a really tough a really tough time atm but I for one am glad she is blogging about it all cause it is a topic that isn’t discussed enough. If u read this Lori *huge hugs* from a semi anonymous reader. U have more strength than u know & u r an inspiration.
  • Kelley @ Magneto Bold Too. Kelley is just AWESOME. I’ve been a reader of her blog for AGES. She rocks the Parties of Awesome, and some gorgeous shoes.
  • Toni @ Chick Chat. Toni & I ‘knew’ each other a few years ago on a scrapbooking forum so it’s nice to ‘catch up’ again.
  • Liz @ lizosaurus. Just found her but she loves cats. Enough said. Cats rule!
  • Jodie @ Muddled Up Mumma. Another recent find but a great read.
  • Kate @ Picklebums. I ‘know’ Kate from the digi-scrapping world. Love reading her blog

hmm I could go on. But I will stop there Winking smile (honestly I got side-tracked reading blogs again LOL)

Do you have a favourite Mummy blogger? Link me up so I can add to my ever growing blog list

Building a better blog – Day 1

So I mentioned yesterday I had signed up for the Aussie Mummy Bloggers 31 days to build a better blog group & today is Day 1.  And I’m struggling already.

Our first task was to write an elevator pitch – selling ourselves & our blog. What our blog is about? Who’s the audience?

The idea is to have a short and sharp piece that you can say about yourself when the opportunity arises…The goal is both to communicate what you do and entice the person receiving your pitch to want to know more….Knowing what your blog is about helps you in developing every aspect of it. (Thanks Louisa)

Writing the tagline for the blog was easy – Love, Life, Parenting and Scrapping. Sums up what this blog is all about really. Expanding that I found a bit harder but here is what I came up with

Why Nightwolf’s Den, and what’s it all about? Well my online alias has always been Nightwolf & I see this little corner of the web as my Den and it’s all about Love, Life, Parenting and Scrapbooking.
My blog originally started as a way to share one of the loves of my life – crafting (specifically scrapbooking), then it grew to include snippets of my mundane life. Around June 2009, the Den expanded and as we prepared to welcome Miss K, the wolflet, it became a bit of a mummy-to-be blog. Now it’s a bit of everything.

So that’s what you’ll find here Love, Life, Parenting & Scrapbooking.

Not sure if I’m happy with this so I’m throwing it open to suggestions. I do have an About Me page but it really needs freshening up so I’ think I’ll combine the two somehow. Something to think bout I guess.
