The LIFE:CAPTURED Project–December 2014

Read more about Life:Captured here.

2. Which is your favourite chair in the house and why?

My new recliner. Super comfy to curl up in or stretch out.

3. What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Usually check my phone – weather, Instagram, Facebook, then my calendar to check what is on for the day; give my youngest daughter a cuddle & put on my glasses

4. What is the last thing you do at night?

Check my phone – what’s on for tomorrow then journal.

5. What can you see outside your kitchen window?

IMG_5937

Our messy backyard. It’s a work in progress. The crappy bomb of a Barina which I wish would go, I hate the thing, takes up room that could be better used. Fruit trees covered in small fruit. 2 weed covered vegie gardens. A clothesline full of clothes. A swing set. A cubby house. A sand pit. The top of the cat run.

6. Name a song that triggers emotions from the past and describe those emotions.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac. Reminds me of a tough time I was going through and of a friend who helped me thru it & our shared love of Fleetwood Mac

7. What do you feel guilty about right now?

Not getting enough sleep & being a bit too grumpy.

8 What happened today at 6pm?

We were eating tea & watching the news.

9 What’s something that you read today that made an impression on you?

This. Hell anything by Eden. So much so hard. Amazing woman. Met her at DPCon a few years back and was a bit in awe. Managed to grab a pic with her. Felt a bit weird LOL but she is so cool.

10 When was the last time you cried, and why?

Hmmm, the other night watching crappy videos online. Really cried, a few months back before Miss A was born. Blaming hormones for that & a touch of depression

11 What do you look forward to the most on a Friday evening?

Kids being in bed, hubby out at a mates. Crafting time for Mum complete with crappy food (lately it’s been chocolate icing), a hot drink and what ever crap is on TV

12 Are you looking forward to Christmas? Why or why not?

DSC_0092

Yup mainly for Miss K, she is so super excited. Also Miss A’s first Christmas

13 How do you feel about the holiday season?

Love the warmer weather, the yummy food, and spending quality time with family & friends. The commercialism – not so much. I hate having to buy gifts and would rather handmade but not everyone agrees. Hate being asked what I want cause I don’t really need anymore crap (unless it’s scrapbook related lol)

14 Do you remember a time when you felt lonely? Can you describe it?

When I was with my ex cause no one wanted to invite him places therefore I missed out. Felt sad, alone & unwanted.

15 What do you and your family like to do on a Saturday morning?

Sleep in, spend lazy mornings in bed just chatting. Slow breakfasts. Sometimes going to the market.

The LIFE:CAPTURED Project–December 2014

I’m not going to bother describing this because it is described so well here and here.
I’m taking part and blogging my answers. So here we go – Life:Captured December 2014

1. Describe a moment from today that you want to remember always.

This happened today.

IMG_5889

Miss K has found something on YouTube apart from the ten thousand or so different versions of “Let It Go” or stuff to do with Play Doh or volcanos or funny cat videos. Namely Taylor Swift’s Shake it off on loop. And All about the bass. Which is kinda cool cause I really like both those songs.
This evening she disappeared up to her bedroom and came back out with her iPad and said she had a dance for us. So I videoed it on my phone, as you do when your a mum 😉

Love that she has a love of music and she’s not afraid to dance and have some fun

December Daily 2014–planning

December Daily 2014 @ Nigtwolf's Den

December daily…well actually Journal Your Christmas (JYC) but its daily & in December so there you go 😉

I’ve been doing JYC since 2010 in 8×8 format and have completed the 2010 & 2011. 2012 & 2013 haven’t happened. Well they have, sort of. I’ve done all the journaling, created some page plans and then that was it. I totally had a valid excuse last year. I was just over 2 months pregnant and had horrid morning sickness.

This year I’m changing things up a little. Changing from an 8×8 album to a Sn@p 6×8 red burlap album.

Sn@p Red Burlap 6x8 album

The plan is a little project life style, a little traditional pages. Using mainly the Simple Stories Christmas ranges and I’ve been busy creating cards to go in my album.

Here’s a sneak at some of the goodies I’ve created so far using lots of stamps from Kellie Stamps. I am rather in love with her stamps and am slowly gaining a collection ;), my Copics and some Simple Stories stuff from last year.

Christmas Scrapping

Disclaimer – contains affiliate links. It helps pay the bills 😉

Well it’s that time of year again when some scrappers start getting in a tizzy over the latest Christmas releases. All the gorgeous papers, the ribbons, the washi, the cute embellishments, the new Project Life cards. It can end up being totally overwhelming.

Then there’s the choice of how to scrap the holiday period – Ali’s December Daily, Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas, creating a mini album, adding spreads to your Project Life album, creating pages for your traditional album….so many Christmas scrapping choices!

I’m here to share with you a tool that I’m finding super helpful so far (and the holiday madness hasn’t really started here yet). And the best part is – it’s FREE!!

I’ve been a fan of Simple Scrapper for AGES and I totally love Jennifer’s free events she runs.

We will remember them {free printable journal cards}

Today is Remembrance Day here in Australia. At 11am people around the country will pause for a minutes silence to remember those who fight for their country, who lost their lives in battle or as a result of battle. The brave men and women who served and continue to serve.

This year I decided to add a card to both my girls’ Project Life albums. I decided to make a set of free printable journal cards for project life in different sizes in case anyone else wanted to use it. Image came from someone on Facebook and I’m searching for the original. Anywho, here are the cards. They are free for personal use. There are 2 4×6 and 2 3×4.

#14DaysOfThermo

14 Days of Thermo

I wasn’t sure how I’d go with this, especially when hubby said he wanted a chook roast but we managed and we got to try some new recipes, so it’s always a win.

Day 1 saw me making the salmon in the Varoma.

Salmon Steaks with Cucumber & Spiced Yoghurt

Day 2 was homemade pizza dough from the EDC (Everyday Cookbook). I love this pizza dough recipe. I made smaller pizzas this time so had dough left over and have frozen it for quick pizzas for lunch or tea (or a late night snack). We had a garlic pizza to share, I had BBQ base, ham, onion and cheese, hubby & Miss K had tomato base, salami, ham and cheese.

IMG_5207

Day 3 – we were out all day but I whipped up the 5 second chocolate coconut slice. I love this slice and will often whip it up if we’re going somewhere and I want to take a little something.

IMG_5221

Day 4 – savoury mince (with a side of wedges, sour cream & sweet chilli). So yummy. Might add some more herbs next time. Made enough to feed 2 adults and a 4yo. Hubby had seconds and there was still heaps to freeze for another night.

IMG_5228

Day 5 – first time cooking a roast chicken in the Thermo. Used the recipe from the ThermoFun Cook Along. Super moist. Downside was, even with putting it in the oven for 15 minutes, no crispy skin. I can live with that.

IMG_5243

Day 6 – Chicken mornay with leftover chicken. Yes the recipe is tuna but we substituted chicken for tuna. Very  nice. Served with rice. Would be yum mixed with pasta and sprinkled with some cheese

IMG_5293

Day 7 – Sausage casserole from ThermoFun. Hubby thought this had too much tomato. I loved it, mixed with some sweet chilli sauce. Miss K loved it & has 3 helpings!!

IMG_5330

Day 8 – Yoghurt (using the ThermoFun recipe – this is one of the best I’ve tried and turns out nice and thick) & berry coulis (EDC). So much cheaper than buying it. And I forgot to photograph it :/

Day 9 – Ended up staying at Mum& Dad’s for tea but had made some brownies earlier in the day. LOVE these brownies

IMG_5209

Day 10 – Creamy tomato & bacon pasta. A quick, yum family favourite

IMG_5414

Day 11 – Bourbon chicken (a ThremoFun club recipes). Mixed responses. Was nice but not sure if we’d have it again.

IMG_5444

Day 12 –Honey Mustard Lamb roast (before cooking and served with roast veg)

IMG_5465 IMG_5471

Day 13 – bread. The BEST every white bread (so far). Super crispy crust and soft bread in the middle. Delicious – especially strait out of the oven spread with butter *yum*

IMG_5454

Day 14 – Finally… curried sausages from the recipe community. Always yum. I added a bit of coconut this time and it’s yum.

IMG_5515

Would I give this a go again? Hell yeah. I’ve enjoyed trying new recipes and using my Thermomix more. Maybe I’ll make it a monthly project.

A fortnight of thermo cooking

We’ve had our thermomix for just over a year now and I still don’t use it enough as I could/should. So for the next 14 days I am going to make myself use it everyday. I’ll be sharing photos and links to the recipes I cook unless the recipe is from the ThermFun recipe club.

Tonight’s meal was a ThermoFun recipe – Salmon Steaks with Cucumber & Spiced Yoghurt

Salmon Steaks with Cucumber & Spiced Yoghurt

I’ve never cooked fish in the thermo and I know how touchy salmon can be so jumping in at the deep end LOL

The salmon was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. I’d change the sauce slightly next time I made it – less coriander – but that was very yum too and would make a nice refreshing dip.

I’ll be back at the end of the fortnight to let you know how I’ve gone but you can follow along daily as I’ll be Instagraming what I make – follow me @nightwolfs_den

Frocktober 2014 – Days 6 -10

Late namely cause I forgot to post :/
This year’s Frocktober theme is Every Frock Has a Story. I’ll be sharing the story behind each of my frocks in a weekly post. You can sponsor me at my Frocktober page.

Wanted to share this before we get into my frocks

Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF)

16 Oct 2014

Froctober-Image-1.jpg
Thank you for supporting Frocktober!

100% of the funds raised for this campaign go towards funding research into an early detection for ovarian cancer to save women’s lives. Our aim in 2014 is to beat last year’s funds raised of $328,000 to enable us in 2015 to fund our very own Frocktober Research Fellow and follow their progress as part of next year’s campaign.

Please help us spread the word among your family and friends. It’s not too late to get involved! We have two more fabulous weeks to raise funds for a “frockin great cause”.

Warmest regards from the Frocktober and OCRF teams

So let’s get fundraising people! Onto the frocks
